PontArte is a tailored “on-demand art gallery” located in Maastricht, the Netherlands. At PontArte, we believe that art should be part of our everyday lives. Art makes you think, question, enjoy, laugh and get inspired. It gives a different perspective of the world we live in and it is a great conversation starter in any place, work or home.
PontArte represents a selective number of contemporary artists. They range from emerging talent to established artists, who each have their own distinct style and story. Our way of working with them is characterized by long-term personal relationships. We have contact on an almost daily basis and visit all of them frequently. This makes not only that we know all of their stories and motivations first hand, but also that we always know what they are working on, as well as have first access to new works.
PontArte’s founder and owner Marieke Severens holds a Master’s degree in Arts and Culture Studies from the Erasmus University in Rotterdam (1995) and an MBA from EADA Business School in Barcelona (2003). She has worked in the Noordbrabants Museum in Den Bosch and in the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam in the area of funding and sponsorship. This career in the Museum world was later complemented by over 15 years of practical business experience, having worked at ING-group and Hewlett-Packard. Marieke founded PontArte in 2013 out of a deep desire to combine her extensive accumulated business experience with the area of her true passion: the arts.
PontArte works with other galleries. In 2018 we have initiated the collaboration for Horizon, a show from Jenny Owens and Santiago Vélez with Tasneem Gallery in Barcelona and Lokkus Arte Contemporanea in Medelín.
In 2019 we start working with Rubrecht Contemporary in Wiesbaden and will present a number of exhibitions in both Wiesbaden-Maastricht under the name Rubrecht Severens Fine Art. First exhibition will be Alpha Painting starting in February 2019.
